Bear Butte State Park - 605-347-5240
"Mato Paha" or "bear mountain" stands alone on the plains just beyond the ramparts of the Black Hills. Bear Butte is a geologic wonder, gold rush landmark, holy mountain to the Sioux and Cheyenne who still make pilgrimages here. The State Park includes visitor center, buffalo herds, and hiking trails to the summit. Admission.

Fort Meade Museum and Cemetery - 605-347-9822
1878-1944. Peace Keeper Frontier Post of the Black Hills. Many military units were stationed here, including Custer's 7th and 4th Cavalry. The survivor of Little Big Horn, the horse Comanche, lived here 10 years. Our National Anthem started here. Located one mile east of Sturgis on SD Hwy. 34. Admission.

Black Hills National Cemetery - 605-347-3830
"The Arlington of the West." It was dedicated in 1948 to provide a final resting place for the veterans of our nation's wars. Memorial Day services are conducted here annually and a spotlighted flag flies day and night above the green pine-shadowed line. Exit 34.

Poker Alice Tubbs - 605-347-2506
A notorious card shark, cigar smoker and expert gun handler. Alice came to the area in 1876 and opened a gambling house. Through the years her home was a rendezvous for the cavalry men. The historic house is located at 1802 S. Junction Avenue. Free Tours.

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - 605-347-2556
Annual motorcycle rally and races, held in early August, includes hill climb, races, and tours. With over 100,000 attending annually. Largest tourism event in South Dakota.

National Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame - 605-347-4875
Established in 1989 as a non-profit corporation, the Museum is a tribute to those who have contributed to motorcycling in industry, transportation, recreation and competition. The museum houses rally photos, one-of-a-kind motorcycles and gift shop with rally souvenirs. Admission.

St Martin's Chapel - 605-347-2556
St. Martin's Chapel is the only building remaining of what once was an elegant complex of buildings which comprised St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis. Although simple in structure, the Chapel is a complete work of art on the inside with stained glass windows, three large murals, a lighted crucifixion scene behind the altar, ceiling paintings and sepia-tone paintings.
